5th November 2023 National Competition

A Fantastic day had by all at the 39th TTA national championships held in Glasgow and hosted by Grandmaster TK Loh the head of the Traditional Taekwondo Association. Thanks to all competitors and parents for supporting our squad. A great achievement for our students and club!

Well done to all our students for your tenacity drive and bravery!

A big thanks to our coaches on the day Areti Lymperopoulou, Tony Devine and Angus Young senior. William Ferguson was on referee duty for sparring.

We won 3 Golds 2 Silver and 4 Bronze medals on the day.

For the female Adult 2nd Dan category Toni Kent won Silver at Patterns and Eva Morrison won Bronze this was a great achievement for both competitors who just moved up to the Adult category this year.

We also had 3 Juniors competing in the Red belt patterns Faye Burns, Arlo Cathro-Brown and Ross Duff who all did excellent on the day with Arlo winning Bronze.

Our final patterns competitor was Junior Ellis Morrison who won Silver in the Green belt category.

In the Cadet male category we had 4 competitors in different weight divisions, Luke Smith had a hard 3 fights to win a well deserved Gold in the under 33 to 37kg category. Lee Skelsey won Bronze in the 37 to 41kg category. Tom Nicols won Gold in the 45 to 49kg category. Angus Young just missed out in the medals and will be back next year to try again.

This was Luke and Toms first competition and they have many more victories to come.

In the Junior male sparring we had Arlo Cathro-Brown and Ross Duff in different weight divisions, Arlo won Gold in a tense match. Ross gave everything he had to just lose to a more senior and experienced fighter, he won Bronze on the day and will benefit hugely from this event.
